Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. provided design services for a Multiple Building Design/Build Contract for Southern Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command at the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, Mississippi. The Center suffered significant damage after Hurricane Katrina made landfall in 2005. This $74,996,000 renovation/addition project involved the demolition of 33 buildings and the construction of ten new buildings. |

| The project consisted of modifications to the Auto Vehicle Training Shop (5,000 SF demolition/4,047 SF bay addition), the Disaster Recovery Training Facility (26,116 SF demolition/22,884 SF consolidation), the Armory (11,200 SF demolition/16,006 SF new construction), the NCTC Training Complex (42,830 SF demolition/8,869 SF renovation/43,347 SF consolidation), the Steelworkers Training Facility (13,364 SF demolition/30,785 SF consolidation), the Builders Applied Instruction Facility (45,130 SF demolition/45,302 consolidation), the Tactical Training Facility (13,841 SF demolition/60,601 SF consolidation), and the Consolidated Professional Development Facility (13,500 SF demolition/30,300 SF consolidation). Careful phasing of the construction was implemented to allow a scheduled relocation of personnel and equipment, as well as existing building demolition. The facilities were designed to meet the requirements for Anti-terrorism and Force Protection and to facilitate a LEED rating of 26 points or more. Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. provided Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Communications, and Structural design services for the project. |
