Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. provided Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Electrical design services for $18 million worth of master planned improvements at St. Paul’s Catholic Church located in Pensacola, Florida.

These improvements where broken into multiple phases and entail the design and construction of a new Sanctuary and Multi-Purpose/Parish Hall Facility, as well as renovations and additions to St. Paul’s existing School Facility and Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary, which spans 23,865 square feet and seats 1,200, reflects a gothic style rich in detailing with arched wood beams and decking, and veneer brick over ICF (insulated concrete form). The design features liturgical stained glass pieces acquired from around the country. The new Multi-Purpose/Parish Hall Facility will encourage fellowship and create a space for informal gatherings and activities. The facility is designed to be flexible in order suit a variety of needs, as well as to handle multiple events happening concurrently.

The renovations and additions to the existing School Facility included an 8,150 square foot addition of classroom instructional space with a library and computer lab, as well as the renovation of approximately 5,100 square feet of the building. The renovation dedicated 1,680 square feet to administrative use which supports continuing educational and accreditation needs.

The project also included the renovation of 6,200 square feet of the existing Sanctuary into a large, multifunctional space to be used as a gymnasium, cafeteria, and auditorium with adjacent classroom space and storage area.
