| Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. provided Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Communications design services for this Design/Build, 7,000 square foot, one-story project which included administrative spaces, vehicle maintenance bays and maintenance support areas. The facility supports maintenance operations for the new Marine Corps Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV). The construction cost for this project was $4,184,000. |

| The facility layout features three open high-clearance maintenance bays with a 7.5-ton bridge crane installation serving all bays. Large overhead coiling doors provide direct access to exterior paved lay-down areas. Administrative and maintenance support areas are located at either end of the high bay area. Pre-cast concrete wall panels and standing seam metal roofing utilized match adjacent buildings and comply with Base standards. Design began in mid-2005; construction was completed in 2006. To permit the contractor to compress the overall construction schedule, design submittals were combined with shop drawing submittals. The completed facility provided the Marine Corps with a high quality installation to support their expanded EFV program. Project challenges included an aggressive fast track design/ build construction schedule, a limited and congested site, an existing architectural vocabulary to be maintained in the design, and an extensive site demolition and development. |
