Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc. provided Structural design services for the Design/Build, $4 million Consolidated Fire Station Project located at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida. The structural system for the Fire Station includes reinforced concrete shallow foundations and concrete slab-on-grade floors. Secondary structural elements are storefront construction, including glazing, concrete masonry blocks with brick veneer and light gauge steel stud walls.

The second floor mechanical equipment space is framed with a concrete roof over concrete masonry wall bearing on a thickened concrete slab. This mechanical equipment support also serves as a safe room for shelter during a hurricane. Interior masonry walls are reinforced per Navy specifications.
