| Bozeman Learning Center was Schmidt Consulting Group, Inc.'s first geothermal school project. The school consists of approximately 160,000 square feet of conditioned space. The classroom wings use a hybrid geothermal heat exchanger to serve individual water-source heat pumps. Our design used a separate chilled water system fo rthe media center, cafeteria, and administrative offices because of our concern about the ability of the geothermal system to control indoor humidity when ther eis a requirement for excess outside air. On subsequent projects, we have developed control schemes to maintain low indoor humidity using the geothermal system by preconditioning the outside air before it is introduced to the occupied spaces. |
